How much does solar cost in Dutchess County?
It depends on your roof, how much electricity you use and how you pay. Many homeowners start with $0 upfront through a loan, lease or power purchase agreement. Eric builds a written estimate for your home at no cost, using your actual electric bills.
Is there still a tax credit for solar in New York?
The federal tax credit for homeowner-owned solar ended for systems finished after December 31, 2025. New York still offers a state income tax credit of 25% of your equipment cost, up to $5,000, plus NY-Sun incentives, a sales-tax exemption and, in most towns, a property-tax exemption. Leases and power purchase agreements can still pass federal business credits through to you as a lower rate. Eric will show you exactly what applies to your home; check the tax side with your tax professional.
Does solar work through Hudson Valley winters?
Yes. Panels make power from daylight, not heat, and cold temperatures actually help them run efficiently. You produce less on short winter days and more in summer, and net metering credits from your utility carry extra summer production forward to the months you need it.
How long does installation take?
Most home installs take a single day. From signing to turning your system on usually takes a few weeks to a few months, mostly waiting on permits and utility approval. PlugPV handles that paperwork for you.
What if my roof needs work first?
Eric checks your roof during the consultation. If it needs repairs or a replacement, that work is planned together with your solar project, so panels never have to come off later.
