Heat pumps

Heat pump installation in Dutchess County.

One system that heats your home in winter and cools it in summer. Ducted and ductless options, sized for Hudson Valley weather.

How a heat pump keeps you comfortable.

A heat pump doesn't burn fuel to make heat. It moves heat: in winter it pulls warmth from the outdoor air and brings it inside, and in summer it runs in reverse to cool your home.

Because it moves energy instead of creating it, a heat pump delivers more heating and cooling for each dollar of electricity than a standard furnace or window air conditioner. Many Hudson Valley homeowners see lower monthly energy costs after switching, especially from oil or propane.

Your options

Ducted or ductless.

  • Ducted heat pumps

Connect to your existing ductwork and send air through the same vents your furnace or central air uses. A good fit for a whole-home replacement.

  • Ductless mini-splits

Wall-mounted units heat and cool individual rooms or zones, linked to an outdoor unit by a small line. No ductwork needed, which suits older homes and additions.

The process

How a heat pump install works.

A straightforward process with one point of contact from start to finish.

  1. Step 1: Consultation

Eric looks at your layout, your current heating and cooling, and your energy use, then explains your options in plain terms.

  2. Step 2: Right-sized system

A heat pump that is too small or too big underperforms. Capacity is matched to your square footage, insulation and our winters.

  3. Step 3: Install day

The crew protects your floors and walls and works efficiently. Most ductless installs are done in a single day.

  4. Step 4: Walkthrough

Before anyone leaves, you get a tour of the controls, the basic upkeep and what to expect in your first season.

Better together

Heat pumps and solar work as a pair.

A heat pump moves your heating onto electricity. Solar panels make electricity. Planned together, your roof can produce much of the power your heat pump uses, so you lower both your heating costs and your electric bill.

Because Eric also handles solar and roofing, he can look at your whole home in one visit and recommend the combination that makes the most sense, rather than selling you one piece of equipment.

FAQ

Heat pump questions.

Straight answers. If yours isn’t here, call or text Eric.

Do heat pumps work in Hudson Valley winters?

Yes. Modern cold-climate heat pumps keep heating well below freezing. For the coldest nights, many homes keep their existing system as a backup, and Eric will explain whether yours needs one.

Ducted or ductless: which is right for me?

If your home already has ductwork in good shape, a ducted system can replace your furnace and central air. If it doesn’t, ductless mini-splits heat and cool individual rooms or zones with no ductwork at all.

How long does a heat pump install take?

Most ductless installs are finished in one day. Replacing a whole ducted system can take a day or two, depending on the house.

Are there still incentives for heat pumps?

The federal heat pump tax credit ended for systems installed after 2025. Utility rebates through New York’s Clean Heat program and other state programs may still apply. Eric checks what is available when you meet.

Can I pair a heat pump with solar?

Yes, and it often makes sense. A heat pump moves your heating onto electricity, and solar can produce much of that electricity. Eric can size both together so the system covers the added load.
