Solar installation
Solar panel installation in Dutchess County.
From the first site visit to final inspection and utility sign-off, every step is handled for you. Eric designs the system with you, and PlugPV's crews install it.
Designed for your home
Your roof, not a template.
No two Hudson Valley roofs are the same. Pitch, shading from trees, which way each section faces and how much power your family uses all change what the right system looks like.
That's why every project starts with a real look at your home. Eric reviews your last 12 months of electric bills, checks your roof and maps the shading, then sizes a system around what he finds. You see the design and the numbers before you decide anything.
- Roof-mounted and ground-mounted systems
- Panels and inverters chosen for Northeast weather
- A written estimate of your cost and savings
The process
From first visit to power on.
Four steps with Eric as your contact the whole way. You'll always know what's happening next.
-
Step 1: Site assessment
Eric looks at your roof’s condition, pitch and shading, plus how your household uses power, before anything is designed.
-
Step 2: Custom design
Panels, inverter and mounting are chosen for your roof and your goals. There is no standard package.
-
Step 3: Permits and approvals
PlugPV files building and electrical permits and your utility interconnection, then follows up with inspectors for you.
-
Step 4: Install day
The crew mounts the racking, installs the panels and connects to your electrical panel. Most homes are done in one day.
Built to last
Made for Hudson Valley weather.
PlugPV has completed 5,782 installs across New York since 2018, through every kind of winter.
-
Rated for snow and wind
Panels and racking are chosen for Northeast conditions: heavy snow, ice and wind, not just ideal test days.
-
Up to New York code
Every install meets New York State electrical and building codes, which protects your roof, your wiring and your warranties.
-
Net metering ready
Your utility credits the extra power you make on sunny days, and those credits carry forward to darker months.
Your bill
What solar does to your electric bill.
Once your system is on, your home uses solar power first. Whatever you don't use flows back to the grid, and your utility credits your account for it. On a typical month, that means a much smaller bill, and in the sunniest months it can be close to nothing.
How much you save depends on your roof, your usage and how you pay. Rather than quote a generic number, Eric builds your estimate from your actual bills, with New York incentives already applied.

“5 am or midnight he would answer my questions right away.”
I couldn't be more impressed with my Plug PV experience. Regardless of how busy my rep Eric L was, he always made me feel like our job got his full attention and care. 5 am or midnight he would answer my questions right away. In addition, the installers were respectful and diligent. In my book ... this was truly the first time a company won in price, service, and met expectations. Thank you Eric and Plug PV.

“Working with Eric made the process go extremely smoothly.”
I recently decided to make the transition to solar energy at my house in Lagrange. After doing some research, we decided to go with PlugPV. Working with Eric made the process go extremely smoothly. He took the time to explain the entire process and check in with us at every stage even after being turned over to our project manager, Luis. The installation team did a wonderful job going over the equipment and the best placement on the house and left the property looking better than when they arrived. If you are looking to make the transition to green energy, PlugPV is the way to go!

Deciding to go solar with Plug PV was the best decision ever. The savings are not embelished or exaggerated. The entire process from start to finish was a breeze. Eric was great, took his time to really explain the process and all that was involved. Eric still checks in from time to time to ensure we are happy with our system and there are no concerns. Also everyone who is on the team was extremely kind and professional.

FAQ
Solar installation questions.
Straight answers. If yours isn’t here, call or text Eric.
How long does a solar installation take?
The install itself usually takes one day. Before that, PlugPV files permits with your town and an interconnection application with your utility. Most of the time from signing to turning on is spent waiting on those approvals.
Who handles permits and the utility paperwork?
PlugPV does. Building and electrical permits, the utility interconnection request and the final inspection are all handled for you. Eric keeps you updated as each one clears.
Do I need a south-facing roof?
South-facing roofs produce the most, but east and west roofs work well too. If your roof is heavily shaded or faces north, a ground-mounted array in the yard may be the better option. Eric will look at both during your consultation.
What happens when it snows?
Snow slides off the smooth glass faster than off shingles, especially once the sun comes out. Production dips for a day or two after a storm, which is already built into your yearly estimate.
Will solar raise my property taxes?
New York has a 15-year property-tax exemption for the added value of a solar system. Most towns participate, though a few have opted out. Eric can check your town.
What if I sell my house?
An owned system usually transfers with the house and adds value buyers notice. Leases and power purchase agreements can be transferred to the buyer. Eric will explain how each option works before you choose.
